Carers Rights Day

24 November 2022

A carer can be someone of any age, who may be in paid work or not, who supports a friend or family member due to their illness, disability, frailty, mental health or substance misuse.

Carers Right’s Day is an annual national campaign that brings organisations together to help unpaid carers know their rights.

Whether someone is new to caring, or has been caring for some time, it’s important that they understand their rights and are able to access the support that is available to them and they are entitled to.

We want to empower carers with information and support, so they can feel confident asking for what they need at a time that they need it and to know how to challenge things when their rights are not being met.

What’s on

Various events and activities are happening across Dorset to mark Carers Rights Day for carers to get involved in.

Some of the events are in person and some are online. If you are unable to attend any of the events detailed in the calendar, need some help, or would like more information about support available to you, such as a support groups or a Carers Assessment, please get in touch with your local support service.
